Chiller Stop Inspection should be done once a year

What is a Stop inspection?
A Chiller Stop Inspection (or Annual Chiller Inspection) is performed when the chiller can be out of service for a lengthy period of time, without effecting critical comfort or process loads. During this inspection, major maintenance as well as predictive maintenance is performed.
Major maintenance can include (but is not limited to) the following items, depending on the type of chiller:
Major maintenance can include (but is not limited to) the following items, depending on the type of chiller:
- Inspection of safety controls
- Inspection of lubrication system
- Replace oil filters and adjusting regulators for proper oil flow.
- Inspection of vane motor and operation
- Perform meg test of motors
- Check electrical connections
- Check starters (all types: variable frequency drives, contactors solid state, soft starter etc.)
- Inspect purge unit and replace driers (low pressure centrifugal chiller)
- Remove heads and brush condenser tubes (water cooled chiller)
- Wash condenser coils (air-cooled chiller)
- Return chiller to service and log performance data
- Compare data to previous logs and address any issues
- Predictive maintenance items:
- Oil analysis
- Vibration analysis
- Eddy current testing
